Low Flow & High Salinity Troubleshooting

Low product-water flow and high salinity are the two most common watermaker complaints. Both usually come down to a small list of likely culprits — pre-filters, membrane condition, high-pressure pump wear, or pressure regulator setting.

Low flow — what to check first

  • Clogged sea strainer or dirty pre-filters
  • Low feed-water temperature (colder = less flow)
  • Boost pump wear or air ingestion in feed line
  • Pressure regulator not opening / stuck
  • Fouled or aged RO membrane

High salinity — what to check first

  • Pressure vessel end-cap O-ring leak (very common)
  • Damaged product-water tube or fitting
  • Membrane at end of life or bio-fouled
  • Salinity probe drift / recalibration needed
  • System operated at too-low pressure

How the process works

Send us your system make/model and current symptoms — pressure reading, flow rate, and salinity if you have them. A specialist reviews and reaches out to help.

  • · Symptom-based diagnostics
  • · Pre-filter and strainer inspection
  • · Pressure vessel O-ring service
  • · Salinity probe recalibration
  • · Membrane condition assessment
  • · Written recommendations
